Amy M. Barrios
Ed.D., Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction, College of Education and Human Development, Texas A&M University-San Antonio

Topic:   “Expanding our Definition of ‘Culture’: Understanding our student and developing self-identity in today’s classrooms.”

Dr. Amy Barrios currently serves on the faculty of Texas A&M University-San Antonio in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction as an Associate Professor. Most recently residing in the DC area, Amy was a faculty member in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of the District of Columbia, where she served as Division Chair of Education, Health, and Social Work. Prior to working at UDC, Amy served as faculty at Angelo State University in San Angelo, where she led secondary and graduate certification programs. She has also taught for Valdosta State University, the George Washington University, and Johns Hopkins’ School of Education, where she worked to support new teachers in DC schools within their first five years of teaching.
